Karen Naundorf is a feature writer and TV correspondent based in Buenos Aires. She holds a degree in communications (University of the Arts, Berlin), studied in Barcelona (Audiovisual Communication), and is a graduate of the Henri Nannen School of Journalism (Hamburg). Karen is the South America correspondent for SRF (Swiss public TV, www.srf.ch) and a Fellow of the "AI Accountability Network", an initiative by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.

Her articles, radio, and TV documentaries have been published by (amongst others): Spiegel, Zeit, Geo Special, Washington Post, Merian, Mare, WDR, Dradio, Arte, Revista Anfibia, DW, and SRF.

Amongst the central topics of her work are human rights issues and gender-based violence. Karen has been a grantee of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting for the project "Femicidal Cops: Argentine Women say, 'Basta!'" (together with photographer Sarah Pabst). Her TV and radio documentaries have been nominated for several awards (Most recently: 2021 - Juliane Bartel Media Prize, 2020 - German Human Rights Film Award, 2019 - Real21 Media Award). In 2014, she won the Gabriel Grüner-Scholarship for an investigation on a human rights topic in Colombia. In 2011, the German Association of Female Journalists honorably mentioned her feature story on Child Labour in Bolivia. In 2009, Karen wrote a travel guide to Argentina and worked at a Colombian weekly magazine (International Journalist Programme, IJP). In 2008, she covered a spectacular discovery in the Museo del Cine in Buenos Aires: missing key scenes from Fritz Lang's 'Metropolis', which experts had been trying to locate for over eight decades. In 2006, Medium Magazin included her in the list ‘Top 30 under 30’, featuring the most talented young journalists in German-speaking countries.

In 2011/12 Karen was the coordinator and deputy head of the Master of Journalism Programme at the Hamburg Media School. Among other functions, she was in charge of designing, facilitating and teaching various workshops. One of the outcomes of these workshops is the book „Really True! How Journalists Report Reality“.
