Michael Neubauer works since 2012 as freelance correspondent in Paris. The eight years before he was political editor at the Badische Zeitung in Freiburg. Neubauers writes features and analysis on political and social issues. In his blog www.lenachbar.de he writes about daily life in France und reflects differences in mentality.
Michael Neubauer studied german literature, politics and french at the universities of Freiburg, Toulouse and Basel. He was a trainee in the publishing house Volk & Welt in Berlin, then in the newspaper Badische Zeitung in Freiburg in the south of Germany.
From 2000 to 2004, Michael was based in Strasbourg for the newspaper Badische Zeitung and the news agency ddp. He wrote about the Alsace region and the Upper Rhine Valley for several german newspapers. He also covered european politics issues in the European Parliament of Strasbourg.
Neubauer got in 2002 the German-French Journalist Award. He is alumnus of the German Northern European Journalists’ Bursary of the International Journalists’ Programmes. He teaches in university journalism for print media.
