Judith Reker's very first feature, in 2002, was based on a 4-week trip along the river Niger where she visited Niger's first female architect in her house by the river and an octogenarian female protester in Nigeria's Niger Delta. Judith has since reported on social issues, culture, politics and technology from around 20 African countries. From 2005 to 2014, she was based in Kenya, the DRC and South Africa, consecutively. Before deciding to freelance, Judith was editor of politics and social issues at the award-winning German magazine "mare" in Hamburg.

After 20 years in journalism and a third degree (in computer science), Judith is now a software engineer and data specialist, based in Frankfurt, Germany.
