Frederic Spohr
Bangkok, Thailand
Frederic Spohr has been reporting from Bangkok since 2012. His main topics are the enormous economic boom in the region and its social consequences. During his time in Southeast Asia he covered the coup in Thailand, the economic opening of Myanmar and the emergence of the Asean Economic Community AEC.
His work led him between the lines of Thai street fighters, into the slums of Asia's megacities and to German entrepreneurs, who must defend their investments against corrupt officials.
Frederic Spohr studied Political Science and Economics at the University of Cologne and graduated from the Cologne School of Journalism.
He is correspondent for the German business paper "Handelsbatt" and frequently contributes to international broadcasters like "DW News" and "Channel News Asia" or Germany's public broadcasting radio station "Deutschlandfunk".
