Barbara Markert, born in Tegernsee (Bavaria), has been worked since 2003 as a freelance correspondent in Paris. In her articles she reports about the simple life beyond the Champs Elysées and she looks behind the glamorous scenes of the Parisian luxury industry. Her features are about the secret mechanisms of the Haute Couture as well as about the creatif life of a pastry cook in the french region of France Comté.
Parallel to her studies of economy at the university of Munich, Barbara Markert gratuated from the ifp school of journalism. Following this, she was responsible for public relations on cultural issues at media house Gruner+Jahr in Hamburg. Her next job as a business editor for special interest magazine TextilWirtschaft introduced her to the world of fashion, which remains her main focus up to today. When in 2001 Condé Nast decided to launch the magazine Glamour on the German market, Barbara became editor for job, technology, car and travel. For the sister magazine Vogue Business she wrote articles on career and lifestyle.
Today her articles are published, amongst others, in Vogue, Myself, Cosmopolitan and Fivetonine. Barbara is the French correspondent for special interest magazine Sportswear International aimed at fashion-professionals. In October 2007, together with two other fashion-editors, she launched her own blog on www.modepilot.de which is considered one of the best fashion blogs in Germany.
